About Alex

Alex was born and spent the first 13 years of his life in Germany. Life is somewhat different there, especially because it was in a small village of 6000. They rolled up the sidewalks by 6:30 in the evening and at noon on Saturday.

Life was more involved with family and activities. Alexander didn’t start out to be so big or so involved with art. He watched his older sister do all sorts of fun things and did things with her, like go to the pottery studio every weekend and draw pictures (a lot of planes with bombs). But his heart was really in science.



However, he moved with his family to Seattle where the high school had an excellent program in art. He got to take guitar, photography, pottery, and gem cutting. He was involved with most artistic expression except drawing. It drew him in more than anything else. It became a safe haven from having to deal with fibromyalgia starting at age 14.

In college, he majored in art where he learned how to throw really huge pots and had to take drawing classes. His drawings were a surprise for all of us as you can see in the photos on this site. Alex now works at home, tending to a huge organic garden, a LOT of chickens, a great cat named Frankie, and still designing stuff. He is married to his wonderful wife Ruth and together they have two children. Little Henry looks like little Alex, see below.
